You can add an SSL Certificate to your site at any time, even if your domain name is hosted elsewhere. You must first set up your Quick Shopping Cart (though you do not have to complete it and publish it to the internet yet). , then click Add SSL next to the account to which you want to add an SSL Certificate.
To Add an SSL Certificate to Your Quick Shopping Cart
Log in to your Account Manager.
From the Web Sites menu, click Quick Shopping Cart.
Click the name of the account you want to add an SSL Certificate to.
In the Account Details panel, click the Add Certificate hyperlink.
If you do not already have Secure Certificate Credits, you may purchase a credit. Then, on the Secure Certificates page, follow the instructions to complete your online application.
